Mediate UK Takes three solid wins – UKBA Overall Winner 2022
The UK British Business Awards are one of the most prestigious business awards in the UK. Known as ‘The Dons’ they are held annually in the UK to celebrate and award the best businesses in 23 categories. This year, over 70 finalists were announced, with companies as well regarded as Octopus and the RAC.
Having been a nominee in a number of categories in the last two years, this year Mediate UK won the Best Customer Experience Award, beating 17 other category winners to be crowned the Overall Winner of the UK Business Awards 2022.
Ali Carter, Managing Director at Mediate UK accepted the awards;
“We currently have the best team that I have ever worked with in my career. We were especially thrilled to win the best customer experience award. Going through a divorce or separation is difficult at the best of times, but we work hard on every step of the process to try to make it less of a challenging time for our clients. This award just validates all the work our team are doing to offer the best experience to our clients at a time when they may be struggling.”
The judges were particularly impressed with how Mediate UK looked at every step of the divorce or separation process, and tried to find way to improve it for their clients. Ways in which they have managed to do this including fixed fee packages to make the mediated agreement legally binding; independent barrister reviews; fixed cost legal advice and an informative and helpful mediation blog.
But, the best was still to come!
The final award is where all category winners are evaluated against each other, with Mediate UK once again coming out on top to claim the most prestigious honor of the evening – the UKBA Overall Winner award.

“This was way beyond and above what we could have wished for, as the competition featured many companies that I respect and admire. When I started the business 12 years ago, it was very different to how we look today. And that transformation has been led by a fantastic team of family mediators and our outstanding business support team. We genuinely care and that shows through in everything we do and I’m grateful for the judges in recognising that and giving us this fantastic award.”
Mediate UK grew their offering during lockdown and, alongside being the top-rated family mediation service in England & Wales, are now the most popular mediation service in the UK.

“It occurred to me early on during lockdown that despite the challenging times those organisations that made a decision to go forward, whether in the original direction or a changed direction, adapting to circumstances, changing the way they worked and thinking afresh would come out of those challenging times much stronger and with many success stories.
Mediate UK is a fantastic example of that thinking. They started as a one-person band in Surrey in 2011 and slowly expanded their offering and took on new mediators. By 2019, they had six branches and five mediators and were looking to expand in 2020, when the pandemic hit and decimated their enquiry pipeline.
With employees and self-employed family mediators to pay, they made a decision not to hibernate but to go for it and expand. They trained themselves in marketing and, in particular, SEO, and invested savings into the business to keep it going. Their initiative proved a huge success”.
